Summer Project

Finance & Equity Research

How It Works

This intensive, three-week program is designed for motivated high school students and rising college freshmen who want hands-on experience in finance and investment analysis.

Under the guidance of mentor Daniel Eem, a Columbia University graduate and M.B.A. / J.D. candidate with extensive Wall Street experience, students will complete a professional equity research paper.

The curriculum covers valuation techniques such as Comparable Comps, Precedent Transactions, and Discounted Cash Flow modeling, along with capital structure, financial ratios, monetary and fiscal policy, and risk analysis.

“The mentorship sessions boosted my daughter's confidence in her abilities! She enjoyed working with a Columbia mentor on a project that she was passionate about. I know the projects will help her stand out on her college applications and I am glad to see the positive impact Path Mentors has had on her!”

What To Expect

By the end of the program, students will have produced an original, publication-ready equity research report.

Past participants have launched their own equity research firms, won national awards in finance and stock pitch competitions, published work on major financial platforms, secured internships, and earned admission to top universities.

Project Details

The program offers two cohorts in Summer 2025:

Cohort I runs from July 6 to July 25,
Cohort II runs from July 27 to August 15.

Sessions are held online in the evenings, with core meetings on Sundays and Tuesdays and project meetings on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in an in-person Demo Day at the Path Mentors office in Palo Alto.

No prior finance experience is required; students simply need an interest in business, economics, or related fields, along with a commitment to putting in the effort.

Each cohort is limited to eight students to ensure personalized support. Registration is available online, and students who find the program full may join a waitlist.
